You can make use of our Client Deposit Account facility. This is a segregated part of the Client Account. This is suitable for holding sums which need to be differentiated from the general client on a given matter, because, for example some money belongs to the client and some money is only part owned by the client and should not be accessed by the client or because you need to have the ability to produce a bank statement showing all money movements for the relevant sums. The is especially useful for family lawyers and should be used to hold the proceeds of sale of joint assets, pending the court's division of the assets.
Contact the Cashiers to arrange for a designated deposit account. Note that this is a redesignation of funds and not a transfer, so the process for client account funds transfers is not engaged. Note also that opening such an account takes 14 days on average. Designated deposit accounts are not appropriate for short hold periods or modest sums. Central Office does not charge a set up fee for a designated deposit account.
