The Law Society in the Isle of Man adopts a protectionist approach. Only our Isle of Man firm can advise on Isle of Man law. If your client needs just Isle of Man advice, then it should instruct our Isle of Man firm. If it needs Isle of Man advice and other advice, then you can still have the Isle of Man firm deliver all the work or you can set up two matters with the English firm advising on English matters and the Isle of Man firm on Isle of Man matters. The client can have two separate retainers or can retain one firm with the fees of the other billed as a disbursement.
