The (MCL) is a suite of template leases you can use for your clients. There are templates for office leases, retail leases, industrial leases and food/drink leases. Within each category there are options for letting of the whole or part of a building and other variations, for example leases within an estate or shopping centre. A large number of law firms, clients and trade organisations were involved in the preparation of these leases and they are overseen by a committee which includes our colleague Belinda Solomon. Each is a balanced institutional lease and using a model lease can save the parties time.
If you intend to use the MCL, you will need to send our Client Letter to the client beforehand. This letter just gives the client some more details about it and invites the client to make a choice as to whether to use it or not.
