Requesting a director sign a document on behalf of the firm

It is quite usual for third parties to require a Director to sign a document that relates to routine correspondence, e.g. Certificates of Title. Signature can be arranged at short notice when required. It is a common misconception that Statements of Costs for court need to be signed by a "partner". While this is indeed what the forms say, the CPR make it clear that any solicitor may sign these. To have a document signed, simply send it to the Operations and Compliance Director, stating that you are satisfied that the document is correct and ready for signature. You should also specify the time by when signature is required, what is to be done with the signed document (original and PDF) and highlight anything of note or out of the ordinary that reasonably should be brought to the Operations and Compliance Director's attention. If the matter is urgent, then you should phone too.
