Taking on other roles

We provide you with a great deal of support and help. For us, you are our sole focus and we ask that be reciprocated. We understand that you might have other business interests outside the law and, subject to your having a material focus on your Keystone practice, we accept that. Indeed, in many ways that wider experience can give your practice an edge.

However, when it comes to your legal practice, we have a strong preference that your sole focus be Keystone. There are a number of legal and regulatory reasons we set out below as to why this reduces risk, but these are to some degree secondary to the wider cultural driver that Keystone operates as a single collegiate firm.

It is understood that other firms may have work that needs to be done and you may be approached to join such a firm to service that work. Our view stands in line with the typical response of most leading law firms: we are happy to service the client through Keystone, working hand in glove with that other firm as needs be. However, it is seldom appropriate for you to take an additional engagement at another firm in order to service that work. If you find yourself in need of further work, then contacting the Director of Community and Engagement and/or the Director of Marketing and Business Development is our preferred method to generate further work from colleagues and clients. Where you do seek other work through another firm, then this usually means you'll receive fewer Keystone referrals of work to you.
