We have a deposit account with the (IPO) that can be used to pay for any trademark applications on their website. Our deposit account number is D05428. We always maintain a minimum amount of £2,500 on the deposit account. Once an application has been made the Accounts Team will top the account back up so please do ensure you notify them after making an application. You can also call the UKIPO (on 01633 814 000) to check exactly what credit we have. If you anticipate making several applications at the same time and need additional funds in the deposit account, then we can add more (speak to the Accounts Team), though it will take two days to hit their account. Payment can also be made by credit card.
If there is not enough money in the deposit account when submitting a trademark application, it will be put on hold for up to a month until the deposit account is topped up. An email will be sent to you to say that there are insufficient funds. Once the deposit account has been topped up the trademark will be filed on that date.
You do not need a user account to submit a trademark application online on the IPO website, however the first time you submit an application you will be asked to add your details, these can then be retrieved for all future applications.
When you later come to bill your clients please inform the Accounts Team that the trademark application was submitted using funds in the IPO deposit account so that they can reconcile the payments.
