Work experience

We are inundated with requests for work experience. You may offer work experience to any adult with you personally (as opposed to with Central Office), subject of course to very close supervision. You cannot offer work experience to anyone under the age of 18 due to safeguarding and insurance issues.

You should be co-located with the work experience student the entire time and not allow them any unsupervised access to our systems. They should not be allowed to use their own laptops or phones to access our systems either. We strongly recommend that you entertain applications only from those with or doing a law degree. Do note minimum wage laws apply to work (e.g. an internship), but not to work shadowing. If you plan to offer any work experience taking place at your office, then you should check your insurance.

If you wish to offer work experience, contact the Director of Operations and Compliance and the relevant person will need to sign our non-disclosure agreement. Due to the administrative burden of offering work experience we suggest a limit of four weeks per lawyer of work experience offered in any calendar year spread over a maximum of 4 persons (e.g. one for four weeks, four for one week, or anything in between).

Central Office can offer work experience to your direct family on request, but only once per applicant, subject to availability and a minimum age of 18.
